The Adventures of Zara

When you find yourself running after a 3 month old hoping that she will pee on the grass and won’t chew up your slippers, that’s when you know that your life has been taken over!

On December 4, at 12.10am, this story began. After spending 10 hours with no water or food, Zara found herself being transported from this packed taxi to our car where 3 of us were ready and eagerly waiting for her. We brought her home and over the course of a day and a half, she discovered that we aren’t bad company after all!

Meet Zara

We fed her, played with her, gave her some yummy treats and even sat with her for hours in the sun. We didn’t let her eat plants and mud though so that disappointed her a little. But she was happy to learn that just for peeing on the grass, an important and uncontrollable reaction to drinking water, she was given a treat. She was also happy that we knew other people… whose sole purpose of visiting our home seemed to be to play with her. And now she is also noticing that 3/4 of us are also always buzzing around her so maybe our purpose in life is also to follow her everywhere.

Zara & Her Red Ball

She gets scared when the newspaper flies and she’s conflicted about whether she likes water or not. She loves to drink it and run in it but she still doesn’t have a firm opinion of a water pipe. She likes her red ball but is not a big fan of her bone shaped rubber toys… they aren’t as tasty as she imagined a bone would be. She doesn’t like grass but it’s an unnecessary evil in her process of digging to try and find a spot to stick her nose into the mud. She likes mud but gets yelled at when she tries to taste it so now she is even more curious about it especially because her mud pot has been removed from her reach.

She is always hungry, loves slippers, wants to lick and taste everything including stones, prefers the floor than the blankets, bed covers or bed that we got for her. She likes sleeping, she loves food (especially the food she can only smell us eat). She is a complete Daddy’s girl. She follows Mama around because Mama gives her khaana. She only listens to you when she is convinced that she’ll get a treat. She doesn’t have too much free time for your drama so if you say the same thing or try to teach her the same thing more than 3 times, she gets bored.

You’re Not The Centre of Her Universe

She gets easily distracted so don’t expect her to sit and listen to your whole life story… she has other important tasks at hand. She still hasn’t explored the kitchen or my room. She also wants to spend more time on carpets which she hasn’t been allowed to do as much. She also has to eat 3 times a day, pee and poop in the right place so she gets an additional treat, she has to find new slippers to taste and chew and then she has to nap 4 times a day also. So whatever you want to say to her, keep it short! #introducingzara
